AP Test for AP Classes
STAAR testing this week for English I & II. Helpful tips include getting a nice 8 hour sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, shying away from sugar and drinking water. If you read carefully, you can always eliminate two answers. Underline or annotate important information while reading. Please make sure your essays are fully developed and outline your essays. NoRedInk is a free account that can help revising and editing practice. Good luck!
Welcome back from Spring Break and hoped you had a restful week! There are 9 weeks left of school! It is a busy time of year. I'm still missing several students schedules for next year. If you haven't scheduled an appointment with your parent and myself, I will be calling you out of class. If you parent cannot make it, you will take a copy of your Personal Graduation Plan home to have them sign off. STAAR is coming up in three weeks for English I & II. Please make sure you are finishing strong in your academics. If you are in credit recovery classes, you must be done by May 24th. We are switching to a new software and your work will not be transferred to the new system.
It is very important talking about the student's post-secondary plan as it will help plan the years the students are in high school. Please reference our Course Catalog as we meet one on one for next year's scheduling and reviewing 4yr Personal Graduation Plan. You can find the course catalog in the side bar named "Course Catalog". Seniors will be applying for college before they start their senior year. As always, students please be checking your emails from Mrs. Lillard and myself regarding important testing and scholarship info and other updates. Also, check out the CCC website as well.
Happy New Year! If you or your child retook the STAAR EOC in December, those results are in and were mailed home. If you or your child failed at semester with below a 60, they were added Credit Recovery and more information was sent via email. The January Newsletter was emailed and is also attached on the Newsletter side bar. ---------> Please make sure you schedule an appointment with Mrs. Schuessler for next year's course selections and personal graduation plans. Course selections drive the Master Schedule. It is extremely important to meet with each child and parent because everyone is unique and there is a lot of information to review.
We will schedule appointments in January to meet with students and parents during Febuary 1st - March 30th to go over Personal Graduation Plans and course selections for the 2018-2019 school year. STAAR EOC retakes are this week! Good luck! Check out the monthly newsletter that went out today!
If you feel like you or your child need help in getting organized, come see me in the counseling office. We are over half way over for the semester. We want to make sure students are successful and earn credits. Please advocate for you or your student. Students were pulled for a lunch meeting if had at least one non passing subject for the previous 6 weeks.
Please make sure you are reading the newsletters that are going out via student email and on school messenger. Also, if you look on the side bar, there is a newsletter link that has every one that has went out each month. There is valuable information and tips regarding all grade levels. December EOC retakes are right around the corner. Students were assigned reinforcement in Odyssey using chromebooks for each EOC. Their teacher gave instructions on expectations.
Please visit Mrs. Lillard's website on important dates for college testing, visits and informational sessions.
