About Me

2020-2021 marks my 19th year at Thrall High School and I have never been more proud to be a Tiger! My journey to become an educator started in 1989 when I graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Agriculture Journalism. My work as a newspaper and magazine journalist lead me into the burgeoning world of desktop publishing and graphic design and eventually to my true calling in the classroom. After teaching journalism, multimedia, photography, and video production at Leander and Crandall High Schools, I got a phone call that Thrall was looking for a yearbook adviser. So here I am!

Our school may be “small”,  but our students have the same talent and potential found on any 6A campus. With this in mind, I encourage my students to think big and they rise to the challenge. The yearbook staff produces a book that has been recognized among the best in the state by the UIL and Balfour Publishing.  Graphic Design students consistently win art shows and design contests on local and state-wide levels.

I was born and raised in Austin and graduated from Travis High School (Rebels True) and landed in Taylor when I married my husband, Stuart, a Taylor High School graduate. We have one son, Wesley, THS Class of 2018 at West Texas A&M Class of 2022.

Outside of school, I enjoy hanging with my family and three dogs (two golden retrievers and one funny brown mutt). My husband and I like to dance, float the Frio River, and go kayaking. I also enjoy swimming, cycling with friends, and sometimes I attempt to run. I did my first triathalon (swim, bike, and run) in 2008 and continue to participate in one or two events per year.
