Hi everyone!  I can't believe this is my 29th year as band director at Thrall ISD!  Goodness, how the time has flown by!

A little bit about me...I graduated from Southwestern University (Go Pirates! http://www.southwestern.edu) in 1988 and immediately found my place in the Thrall community.  I've never looked elsewhere.  I am impressed with the work ethic of the students in this district, which is a direct reflection of excellent parenting and expectations.  Although I live in Cedar Park, it is well worth the drive to teach here.   I also work among a great staff here at Thrall ISD!

In this district I am responsible for all music classes Pre-K through 5th grade, and all bands grades 6-12, including marching band and color guard.  I also offer music theory and music history classes for those interested in those areas.  In the spring, I coach UIL Spelling at the HS level, and with middle school I coach 6th grade UIL Music Memory. I also serve as a Senior class sponsor.  I am so glad that we were able to add an Assistant Band Director position last year, and it is a privilege for me to work alongside Mr. Bana Estes.  He is a true asset to our program!

Outside of school, I am on part-time staff at St. Philip's UMC in Round Rock, where I serve as Praise Band Minister for our group, Holy Mackerel.  We've been together 19 years!  I have also found a home playing French horn with the Williamson County Symphony.  This will be my 6th year with them.

My teaching philosophy focuses on preparing students for success after high school.  I'm a huge fan of leadership training, and I offer opportunities for my students to get that training so they can serve/lead their peers.  But I also have a passion for music.  First and foremost, if I can do anything for my students, it is to instill in them a love and appreciation for music and its intricacies. It is something they can do and enjoy all their lives!  In addition, I like to travel and take my bands with me.  This year we are planning a trip to Branson, MO during Spring Break, where we will perform at the Clay Cooper Theater and take in many of the local attractions.

Life is full of opportunities, and I'm ever so grateful to have the honor of serving this district and its wonderful students!
Proud to be a Tiger!
